Credit & Collections Representative
LOCATION : Burlington
(3 Part Time Position)
SUMMARY
In accordance with established procedures, policies, code of ethics and available resources, the incumbent is responsible for the proactive and timely collection of delinquent accounts and the effective application of the credit and collections treatments managed through the Collection Department for all Ontario systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Makes routine outbound/inbound telephone calls to delinquent
customers using auto dialer or dialling manually. Asks for
payment commitment of outstanding balance and negotiates
with the customer to obtain total amount due. Works with
customer to determine solutions to resolve delinquency.
- Review, analyze, and determines course of action to resolve
delinquent status.
- Investigate discrepancies on accounts and details proposed
actions, promises, proposals with follow-up dates duly noted
and followed to manage credit exposure.
- Ensures account information is current and executes follow up
to confirm pay arrangements are respected.
- Approves/denies and recommends payment arrangement
requests generated by all customer contact channels that fall
outside policy.
- May deactivate/suspend/activate equipment.
- Assumes all other tasks and duties as related to Credit and Collection as per business needs, agents may be asked to cross train for additional skills to assist teams with back up if needed. The expectation of this position is agents are flexible
and able to balance multiple skills at the same time maintaining their expected key performance indicators.

Digital Services Technician
LOCATION : Burlington

SUMMARY
In accordance with established procedures, policies, standards and available tools, the incumbent is responsible for day to day support, evaluation of new digital services, features, implementation, and Quality Control of the DVC/SEP-48 and VOD platforms as well as User Acceptance Testing on new Technology and devices used on Cogeco Digital Network. As well as monitor and report on the DVC network and services that reside on this network using tools such as Ineoquest, Volicon and RSAM monitoring platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Investigates, troubleshoots and corrects hardware and software problems with the DAC6000, RPD, OM, RADD, VOD Servers, SDV Servers, SEP-48 and Device Managers. Provides technical assistance on all the platforms.
- Performs technical evaluations of new products and equipment, and prepares reports and recommendations on results.
- Participates in the planning and implementation of special projects where coordination is required between Technical Operations, Engineering, Customer Care and IT.
- Assists with all new launches and swaps of addressable equipment.
- Provides support on special projects relating to headends, as required.
- Co-ordinates and schedules changes with Marketing and Engineering , including operational changes to pay TV, PPV, two-way decoders, as well as channel lineups on DVC, VOD and addressable controllers. Prepares detailed plans for remote systems pertaining to those changes including node split activity and QAM adds moves and or changes.
- Coordinates with other Cable MSOs, as required, to support DVC, VOD and addressable functions or product signals.
- Performs routine system checks on DVC, VOD and addressable controllers. Maintains file backups of controllers and performs file restores to these devices when required. This also includes making adjustments on SEP-48 equipment deployed in headends.
- Performs restoration and software upgrades to DVC equipment in Disaster Recovery site to ensure these units are kept up to standard.
- Plans and coordinates the procedures for DVC, VOD, addressable implementation, and quality control throughout the headends and systems.
- Develops and maintains operating procedures and technical documentation pertaining to Cogeco’s DVC, VOD and addressable controllers.
- Coordinates time changes relating to DVC, VOD and addressable equipment for all headends.
- Sources and maintains inventory of critical parts used for equipment repairs and completes paperwork and record keeping associated with equipment and system maintenance.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Planner, Permit Design, Network Services
LOCATION : Burlington/Niagara
(1) Full Time Position
SUMMARY
In accordance with: Cogeco’s Construction and Drawing Design Standards; Approving Authorities’ regulations and requirements; applicable laws, codes and regulations (specifically Ontario Regulation 22-04); and terms and conditions of contractual agreements; the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the creation of detailed design drawings and obtaining consent from the Approving Authorities for the construction of Cogeco’s hybrid fibre/coaxial plant. The Network Planner/Designer is accountable for the assignment, management, and verification of design work to and from P. Eng. Design houses; ensuring accuracy and compliance of detailed designs. In addition the Planner/Designer is responsible to compile, submit and actively follow though on obtaining permits and required consents from: Hydro; Municipalities; Rail, Road, Waterway and Pipeline Authorities; Bell; commercial building owners; and, private property owners (“Approving Authorities”).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Award design projects to Cogeco approved P. Eng houses; managing accuracy and the completion of detailed design drawings within required time frames.
- Accompany P. Eng houses on site survey for all projects awarded to identity best route, method of installation and document plant found non-complaint with standards, codes, standards and regulations.
- Ensure accuracy of detailed design drawings produced by P. Eng. house by reviewing for compliance to applicable standards, requirements, laws, codes and regulations and utility best construction practices.
- Create and submit permit packages to Approving Authorities; meeting to review P. Eng. design drawing with them and accompanying them on field site visits to inspect the as requested.
- Regularly follow-up with Approving Authorities to ensure timely approval of submitted permit requests; resolving conflicts and removing roadblocks standing in way of obtaining said approvals.
- Meet on site with building owners and managers to negotiate access agreements to obtain rights to build Cogeco plant into commercial properties.
- Build close relationships with utilities, government bodies and agencies, developers and consultants in order to advance Cogeco’s business plan.
- Provide design direction, technical and process leadership to P. Eng. Forms, fellow Network Planners and Designers and other interfacing groups.
- Provides assistance to field technicians and Construction Coordinators in interpreting their designs and authorising change requests.
- Maintain project, task, permit and tracking reports; keeping management and stakeholders advised through regular project status up-dates.
- Closely monitor projects from the preliminary plan stage to the release of all necessary permits, applications and system plans to the Planning department. Coordinate with the Planning department any material amendments required to the Plan Overview.

Storefront Sales Representative
LOCATION : Burlington

SUMMARY
In accordance with established policies, procedures and service principles, the incumbent is responsible for promoting and selling products and services offered by the Company so as to bring current and potential customers to select Cogeco as their sole supplier of home Cable TV, Internet and Telephony services over any other competitor. The incumbent places a major focus on providing efficient and friendly service to customers who visit the Cogeco storefront. The duties include but are not limited to: actively promoting Company products and services at every opportunity, identifying sales opportunities, and providing an optimal level of professional service to all customers regarding sales, billing, equipment rental and general inquiries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively focuses on selling, up grading and promoting Cogeco products & services.. Effectively interacts with customers regarding billing inquiries, equipment problems, etc.; carefully listens to current and prospective customers’ requests; and escalates issues as required. Provides professional services and solutions to meet customer needs. Schedules and inputs order requests using the compliance tools necessary, ITC EzCare, Go Button and Valid transaction receipts.
- Delivers outstanding customer services that will entice customers to select Cogeco as their sole supplier of choice for Cable TV and Internet services. Highlights the advantages of cable television and Internet access services.
- Makes every effort to retain customers who express their wish to cancel their subscription or reduce their level of service. Is upfront in all his/her dealings with customers. Is proactive, sincere and empathetic when responding to customers’ questions or issues. Issues and accepts return of equipment.
- Manually completes work orders and files same daily, inputting into ITC. Categorizes Customer Call Types in EzCare for transaction accuracy. Inputs notations on customer accounts for collections.
- Will be an active participant in a Quality scorecard, which will display selling skills, product knowledge and expertise in satisfying customers needs.
- Actively participates in corporate initiated Selling skills training as well and new procedural enhancements as part of the position requirements.
- Processes customer payments for equipment and services in accordance with existing Cogeco policy, which may include credit or debit card, or PAP methods. Resolves problems related to PAP requests from customers and banking institutions.
- Processes system-wide refunds. Confirms accurate totals with Cogeco processed cheques. Processes stale-dated cheques. Files and matches manual refunds.

Senior Storage Administrator
LOCATION : Burlington

SUMMARY
The Storage Administrator’s key responsibility is to ensure the continuous availability and reliability of Cogeco’s IT SAN storage systems and related hardware and software components. The administrator also ensures that expected results are delivered to the user community at agreed upon performance standards. In addition to day-to-day operation, he/she is involved in infrastructure and application related projects, maintenances and support to ensure the implementation of a high performing 24/7 infrastructure.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contributes actively to project and maintenance activities by designing technical SAN storage infrastructure specifications, and supporting implementation.
- Administers the ongoing operation of Cogeco’s IT SAN, NAS storage infrastructure across Ontario and Quebec.
- Installs, administers, troubleshoots and maintains all (Dev, Prod & DR) storage systems.
- Troubleshoots errors related to disk storage, SAN infrastructure hardware, software and related tools.
- Applies security standards at all times, including the correct patching level and configuration to achieve security and operating systems patch management policy.
- Maintains the disaster recovery plan for the corporate SAN storage Infrastructure.
- Implements and monitors backup and recovery using storage systems snapshot tools.
- Monitors and responds to SAN storage hardware and software alarms using appropriate problem determination tools.
- Provides SAN storage infrastructure related support to the Operations and the Application Development Teams.
- Performs capacity planning and performance management of corporate SAN infrastructure to provide proactive actions and solutions.
- Ensures that new storage infrastructure meets operational acceptance criteria and is adequately documented prior to going live.

Network Operations Technician
LOCATION : Burlington
(1) Full Time Positions
SUMMARY
In accordance with established policies, procedures, standards and tools, the incumbent is responsible for monitoring and managing Cogeco’s entire Network infrastructure including DataCom, High Speed Internet, Digital Telephone over cable, IP and Digital and Analogue CATV networks. The incumbent will work with field technicians of various disciplines, as first level support in the prevention and timely resolution of circuit and network outages.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responds to the Network alarm situations and customer service interruptions by opening trouble tickets and carrying out diagnostics.
- Coordinates and participates in the testing with customers, field staff and other carriers as required with the mandate of meeting specific NOC objectives.
- Updates trouble tickets and performs escalations as required by the NOC procedures.
- Monitors all Network Management Systems including facilities for alarm activity and responds accordingly.
- Participates in the evaluation of equipment and procedures, and assists with the ongoing improvement of Cogeco’s Network Operations Centre and Cogeco’s network.
- Liaises and provides support to all users of the Network.
- Liaises with the system’s technical departments to coordinate maintenance activities ensuring all the systems affected are notified. This includes change and additions control activities.
- Assists with the installation of computer hardware and software and other facilities at the Network Operations Centre.
- Coordinates customer circuit releases with the appropriate Network users and maintenance groups.
- Maintains the NOC documentation files and creates the required reports, including monthly Network reports and performs the required back-ups.
- Required to periodically travel to the Niagara Falls Disaster Recovery site to perform site maintenance and ensure continued operations.
- Performs other duties and or projects as required.

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director – Infrastructure Operations, this position is accountable to form, develop and lead the Convergence Services support team within IT Infrastructure & Operations. A new functional area, this comprises a consolidated team voice and data technical resources focused on designing, implementing and supporting the internal voice over IP systems as well as the ongoing support of the underlying IP network infrastructure and migration from existing legacy voice systems. As the concept of convergence services is relatively new within Cogeco, this position will evangelize and enable the use of video conferencing, messaging and related collaboration technologies between corporate, regional and third party (i.e. remote call centre) locations and business units.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages voice system and data network technical resources within the I&O Convergence Services team and across the Burlington, Montreal and Trois Rivieres IT office locations.
- Establishes and executes on a Convergence Services Roadmap including evolution of current legacy voice systems to voice over IP, consolidation of dial plans across corporate and regional offices, selection, implementation and ongoing support of voice, video and messaging collaboration solutions;
- Interfaces and works closely with the I&O Design & Planning Director and team on the design and configuration of the Cogeco internal communication network. Network Head End Technician

SUMMARY
In accordance with established procedures, policies and available tools, the incumbent is responsible for the installation, operation and timely maintenance of all aspects of the Network Head Ends in Cogeco’s Ontario systems. This also includes all associated microwave/hub sites, SONET transport as well as maintenance of all Digital/VOD platform edge devices. The position objective is to ensure that all of Cogeco source CATV signals, Internet data processing and Digital platform signal quality is maintained at a level equal to or greater than Cogeco’s Engineering Standards of Performance to ensure a strong competitive position in the Ontario marketplace.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks weekly and monthly as per Directed Maintenance Objectives. These are to include Audio, Video, Sonet, Microwave, Internet, Digital, VoIP and Environmental performance checks.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Network Upgrades. This is to include CMTS Installations and expansion, Node and Upstream Return wiring, Node Splits, Sonet Equipment, RPDs, MPS shelves, Rebuild and Monitoring Systems (Pathtrack, Clearpath, and AM).
- Remedy Ticket Tracking for All Directed Maintenance Activity is to be performed daily, weekly and monthly. Also required to assist in the development of targets for Directed Maintenance as new services are deployed.
- Assist in the implementation of New Services. This is to include testing and system verification and act as a technical resource representing Technical Operations during Project phases.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance activities at the Node and Launch Amplifiers in conjunction with Network Facing CRT’s to certify critical points in the Network on a routine basis as prescribed by the Directed Maintenance Charter.
- Assist in the co-ordination of Category 1 Directed Maintenance Activities as required. Noise problems, customer escalated referrals and complex troubleshooting of Digital and HSI platform problems.

SUMMARY
The position of Director Health & Safety is responsible for setting the strategic direction for Health and Safety within the corporation. The incumbent will provide direction to Cogeco for all matters relating to Health and Safety, policies, programs and procedures and ensure the corporation is compliant with Laws, Regulations and Standards relating to Health and Safety.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as expert advisor for the interpretation and enforcement of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) laws, policies, processes and standards in force.
- Recommend and see to the implementation of internal OH&S policies, processes and standards.
- Develop and recommend new work accident prevention strategies. Develop strategies to communicate and issue Emergency and Fire Safety measures required by laws, standards and safety codes.
- Together with existing Health & Safety Committees (H&SC), make sure current prevention programs are updated and consult with participants on all matters to be submitted to them. Develop relevant strategies.
- Act as Management representative in some H&SC, and act as advisor with Workplace H&SC.

Customer Facing Technician
LOCATION : Sarnia

SUMMARY
In accordance with established procedures, policies and available tools, the incumbent is responsible for installing, operating and maintaining all products and aspects of the network including drop, plant, and associated equipment to Cogeco and Industry Canada standards and to the customer’s satisfaction. it is expected all work functions are performed in a manner to ensure the highest level of quality customer service is achieved. This consists of, but is not limited to; installation calls including connections, adds, moves, changes and deletions of services, and service related work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs installations, connections, service additions and disconnections of all Cogeco services. Tests, installs, troubleshoots and repairs advanced services. This includes responding to service calls initiated by customers or the NOC and resolving issues with other departments if necessary.
- Performs service and repair work from multi-tap to customer premise equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
- Performs, but not limited to, multiline phone installations, change of service and disconnects following Cogeco approved methods. Educates customers on the correct use of all related Cogeco products and services.
- Building and fostering positive relationships with all customers, identifying their needs and responding in a timely manner with the utmost professionalism.
- Highlights and up sells the features and benefits of Cogeco products/services; motivate customers to choose Cogeco as their exclusive service provider. Strives to retain customers wishing to cancel or downgrade their services.
- Operates and understands the use of test equipment related to 2-way services coaxial and fibre systems including, signal level meters and leakage monitors, etc.
- Performs various administrative duties such as completing and maintaining accurate system records, activity reports and support documentation.
- Ensures the vehicle, test equipment and other assigned tools and equipment are maintained in excellent condition.
- Escalates issues as required to appropriate Cogeco department or supplier and ensures follow-up of outstanding issues.
- Attends Cogeco and Industry training and developmental events to maintain technical skills and knowledge. Provides reports on such activity.
- Performs other duties/tasks as assigned.

ACADEMIC TRAINING
- College diploma in Electronics, preferably to the Technician or Technologist level or combination of equivalent education and experience required.
- A+ certification preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years experience in CATV System or relevant experience in the telecom industry preferred.
- Installation experience with interconnect company or VoIP key system installation would be an asset
SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
- Mechanical aptitude required to complete required repairs and corrections.
- General understanding of broadband, cable telecommunications or Internet industries and technology preferred.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in working with HFC Networks, Telephony, PSTN and PBX environments and troubleshooting techniques preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to following and encouraging safe work practices.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service focus.
- Must be people and team oriented and have demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
- Superior organizational and analytical skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
- Must be PC literate, and must have good working knowledge of Internet and MS Office applications (e.g.: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access).
- Self motivated and able to work independently and take initiative in identifying and resolving problems.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and eligibility to drive Cogeco vehicles.
- Flexibility required with respect to hours of work as business needs change
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND VISUAL ACUITY
- Frequently required to lift up to 70 lbs and work on fibreglass extension ladders, operate hand and power tools and electronic test equipment.
- Must satisfy the visual acuity test requirements (ie: depth perception, colour, distance and peripheral vision).
- Required to move racks, lift/bend/climb/crawl to install equipment, pull wires through ceilings and ducts, install wiring and climb ladders.
