High Speed Internet Usage
What Does “Internet usage” Mean?
Internet usage is the amount of data your computer sends to and receives over the Internet. Amounts of data are measured in megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB).
Every action you perform online transfers data to or from your computer. The increasing popularity of streaming websites such as Netflix and Youtube, as well as online gaming, are changing the way data is being consumed.
What Does Streaming Mean For You?
Streaming allows you to consume content immediately on the Internet. No more downloading, storing or managing files on your computer or device.
This allows you to watch your favourite content from any streaming website or application, or to play games online instantly. Streaming requires that your computer or other device be connected to the Internet while enjoying the content.
Streaming Video and Internet Usage
Streaming HD video uses, on average, up to 3 GB of data per hour. For example, watching a one hour HD show daily would consume approximately 60GB of data per month. If your current Internet package does not meet your data-usage needs, you could be charged for any extra data you consume.View my Internet Usage on My Account
Recommended Speeds for Streaming
Most streaming websites will work smoothly on Internet connections with speeds of 0.5 megabytes per second (Mbps). Netflix recommends 1.5 Mbps or higher for the best experience.
Great news! All our packages offer at least 6 Mbps, giving you the optimal online streaming experience. Imagine how great your streaming experience will be with 30 or even 55 Mbps!
