Why am I unable to send emails?

If you are able to receive email, but not send email, there could be several things causing this issue:

  • You may have incorrectly typed the outgoing mail server name. The correct name is: smtp.cogeco.ca.  Please ensure that the following information has been configured in your e-mail client.

FOR IMAP:
Incoming mail server (IMAP)
IMAP server: imap.cogeco.ca
Port: 993
Email address: your Cogeco email address
User name: username@cogeco.ca
Password: your password

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
SMTP server: smtp.cogeco.ca
Port: 465
User name: username@cogeco.ca
Password: your password

FOR POP:
Incoming mail server (POP)
POP server: pop.cogeco.ca
Port: 995
Email address: your Cogeco email address
User name: username@cogeco.ca
Password: your password

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
SMTP server: smtp.cogeco.ca
Port: 465
User name: username@cogeco.ca
Password: your password

  • The person you are trying to send an email to may not be able to receive email. Check that the person you are trying to communicate with is not having issues with their email service.

If you are still unable to send email, please contact us.
