What is the Local Programming Improvement Fund? (LPIF)

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) created the Local Programming Improvement Fund (LPIF) to subsidize the production of new local programming, largely at the request of public and private television networks.

Following a previous public hearing, the CRTC has decided that the LPIF has fulfilled its purpose and will be  removed as of August 31, 2014.

Cogeco will comply again this year with the CRTC’s decision and remove the LPIF charges from customer invoices. The LPIF is applied to all TV services and will be automatically be removed from your invoice as of September 1st, 2014.

For more information please visit the  LPIF website.
