Why is the information in the on-screen guide incorrect?

Information is written into the guide anywhere from a few days before to a few weeks before programs are aired. Because of this, a last-minute scheduling change by the broadcaster can render information in the guide incorrect.

A common cause of this phenomenon is a live program such as a sporting event going longer than expected or interruptions due to live political broadcasts.
