What do I need to know about suspending my Cogeco services?

If you’re going to be away from home for 2 to 7 months, you might want to consider taking advantage of our seasonal suspension program, which was designed for snowbirds. This program entails suspending any or all of your Cogeco services so you don’t have to pay your regular monthly rates while you’re not using the services. There are nominal monthly administration fees, based on the number of services being suspended:

  • 1 service comes to $10 per month
  • 2 or 3 services come to $15 per month total (2x$7.50 or 3x$5)

Rest assured that you will be able to access your Cogeco email account the entire time you’re away.

To suspend your Cogeco services, let us know by chatting with a sales representative a couple of days before leaving. You can either book your reconnection date during this chat, or just contact us upon your return and we’ll reconnect your services ASAP.

Good to know:

  • Even if you suspend your services temporarily, you’re still responsible for paying any outstanding bill balance as well as any unbilled charges. If you think you may have any unbilled charges, such as one-time usage charges, at the time of suspending your services, we recommend signing up for pre-authorized payments before going away. Doing this will give you peace of mind because you’ll know any outstanding fees will be paid on time, and you won’t incur late charges. This will avoid any issues with your account. To view your current balance, log in to My Account. If you don’t have a My Account profile yet, you can create one here.
  • If you have a home alarm system that relies on your Cogeco Home Phone number and/or your Cogeco Internet service, be sure to mention this when you call us to suspend your services.
