How to manage your networks with the Managed Wi-Fi portal?

By accessing your Managed Wi-Fi portal, you can manage your staff and guest networks.

Managing your staff network

Staff network

Network state: You can enable or disable your staff network. If disabled, the network name (SSID - Service Set IDentifier) will not be broadcasted and your staff will not be able to connect.

Network name: If you change the network name, we recommend that it should not be easily identified as your company's name. This network is protected by a password, sometimes called a Pre-Shared Key (PSK).

Password: The password (PSK) is a security mechanism used to authenticate and validate users on Wi-Fi networks. The password should be at least 8 characters and include 1 capital letter and 1 number.

Important: Once the changes are applied, all devices connected to the network will be disconnected. Each device will have to be reconnected with the new Wi-Fi settings.

Managing your guest network

Guest network

Configure your Wi-Fi settings:

  • Network state: you can enable or disable your guest network. If disabled, the SSID will not be broadcasted and your guests will not be able to connect.
  • Network name: This is name of the Wi-Fi network for your guests. You can choose a name that is easily recognized by your guests.

Important: Once the changes are applied, all devices connected to the network will be disconnected. Each device will have to be reconnected with the new Wi-Fi settings.

Customize your guest experience:

  • URL redirect: You can redirect your visitors to the website of your choice after connecting to the network. By default, the website is cogeco.ca. The URL should start with "http://" or "https://"
  • Auto-connection: If enabled, visitors see the guest portal the first time they access the guest Wi-Fi network. On future visits, they do not see the portal and are automatically connected to the Internet. If disabled, users will see the guest portal every time they connect to the guest Wi-Fi network.
  • Content filtering: You can configure the level of content to be filtered when your guests access the Internet.
