Cogeco’s social media communities terms and conditions
The purpose of Cogeco’s Social Media communities are to provide a place to discuss our products, industry news, interesting content as well as to promote exchange and sharing with our customers.
We encourage each community member to participate in conversations and discussion threads as well as post suggestions or questions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We also participate in these conversations, answer questions and read comments.
Our Social Media philosophy is to facilitate the free expression of our members’ opinions; therefore, we do not censor content that expresses an opinion that we do not share. However, to maintain a friendly and constructive community, we reserve the right to moderate and delete comments as well as to restrict access rights to any individual who would disseminate content that violates the rules of conduct in order to promote respect, civility and freedom of expression for both users and moderators.
To this end, we ask that you follow the following guidelines:
1. Respect Others: Each participant has a right to express their opinion as long as it does not infringe upon the rights of others to express themselves. We will not tolerate teasing or attacks of a personal nature. We will not accept comments we consider to be abusive, offensive, discriminatory, hateful, racist or offensive, or comments regarding sexual orientation or religious practices, affiliations or any type of comments that we consider to be discriminatory. No personal attacks or spam will be tolerated. All spam, marketing comments or misleading information will be removed.
2. Respect the Law and the Reputation of Cogeco: We will delete any comments that may harm the reputation of Cogeco (i.e. untrue, misrepresentative, inaccurate or fraudulent statements). We will ensure copyrights. If you publish content or an opinion that is not your own, please cite your source. Furthermore, comments encouraging illegal use or misuse of our products or services will be removed and may be transferred to our legal or security team for investigation.
3. Protect Privacy and Personal Information: Our Social Media communities are public. Do not share any of your personal information on public platforms. A Cogeco employee may contact you via private message to obtain your personal information in order to assist you or to offer you the opportunity to participate in a contest. On such an occasion, we will offer you an alternative way to verify your identity. Only authorized Cogeco Social Media agents will have access to personal information. After providing service, we delete all details and personal information [DV2] from private messaging systems (Facebook: private inbox, Twitter: Direct messages, Instagram: direct messages) on a regular basis to ensure privacy and personal data security.
Please note that Cogeco is not responsible if the Social Media accounts or networks are victims of online piracy.
4. Respect Facebook Rules: Any comments made on our Facebook pages are also subject to moderation by the Facebook team, under the social network’s terms of use, http://www.facebook.com/terms.php. Please note that the comments and opinions on this page are those of their authors. The views expressed on this page do not necessarily reflect the views of Cogeco, its directors or employees. Cogeco is not responsible for content posted by commenters on this page and assumes no liability arising from such content, to the extent permitted by law.
If Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or Google+ are hacked or suffer a security breach, Cogeco will not be held responsible for the loss of personal information.

Contests
Please note that contests organized on our Social Media platforms are open to all residents of Quebec and Ontario who have reached the age of majority according to the laws of the province in which they reside and who comply with the contest rules. Employees, administrators, representatives and agents of Cogeco and its affiliates associated with the Contest and its media partners, as well as any person residing with persons mentioned herein, and all members of their immediate families, are ineligible to participate. Questions, comments and claims related to the Contest should be addressed to Cogeco.
Note to employees of Cogeco:
The team responsible for the management of this community act as authorized Cogeco Social Media representatives. They are responsible for answering questions and correcting certain errors.
